Life is hard at the moment in this unfamiliar place with the school that I really dont like and depressing subjects that Im given to teach. I had a dream asking God why my life had turned upset. He answered that I picked my own choice. He is true.

Different perspective now

I have been too proud and self pitied for the past months because I think my life was suck living together with my parents in law right after wedding and my husband was leaving myself to cope with a lot of uncertainties of the future in that home.

My parents in law have been too well to me yet there're times I felt suffocated and prayed hard enough for God to free me to that place (JB) which it has been expected to be far worse. I did not care.

When I got my transfer letter, I was on top of the world! I left finally. But the happy days far from home to be near my husband did not last. I greatly missed all the conveniences at home!

My mil called several times a day at first and I thought she was over-protecting. Later she told that the house has been so quiet and she wasn't get used of the loneliness. Her confession made me so miserable. I was really bad.

4 weeks later, I have chance to come back home again (for packing) to move out real. My feeling was so different now. Home is the best.

I was moved to tears when they welcomed me with cheerful wave at the airport, warm dinner readied (with my fav fish), they moped, changed bedsheet and curtains in the room (they never done those before the maid left).

I regretted I have taken their love for granted.

Exactly 4 years plus 1 week ago, it was like striking Supreme Toto after having sleepless nights. Never ever came to mind that I would be sent to Sacred Heart school among 24 schools in Sibu. God is so great to fulfill my first posting wish that 100% came true.

Could it happen again? I hate this feeling.
I heard transfer result will be out in 24 hours and 15 minutes later. If I get it, Where? Which town? School? If dont get it, what's next move? I have to wait another year to apply again. But I cannot wait to move out from here ...

Pumpkin steam cake

My married friends often share how much they miss their mom's home dishes. Every time when they go home (nian-jia), their moms would cook a table of their favourites.

For me now, my home is where I try making out my new recipes weekly. And my special mom is always so supportive. She loves whatever I bake, steam or cook. She would finish up the failures that I made.

This morning I told mom: Now, I will show you how to make pumpkin cake. Watch carefully and learn. Make sure you make this for your mil too.
As usual, mom would reply : Ah, easy job lah, Mix all the ingredients and it will always nice! (Dad laughed at her because he agreed that she didnt make any.)

Ta laaaaa,..... my pumpkin cake with onion, mushroom, meat and dried prawn turned out to be awesome!

My mil has a very demanding taste buds. She never compliment any food I made before, therefore I dont dare to ask how's it. The most I would ask: Can it be eaten, and usually she just nod. The best she liked is the Guo Dong (Jelly with fruits).

Today should be a day inside my history book :p
Without inviting her, she tried my pumpkin cake when I was not around. When I reached home, she told me it was VERY VERY GOOD. =D

Sound humorous. This morning a colleague wrote me a note: MOTHER?
I didn't know what she meant until I saw some were looking at me eagerly. They must be thinking I am expecting now. Few days back, Mom also asking when is my period. She then don't allow me to take cough syrup though I told her my period hasn't past.

I am pale because have been sick for two days and my "shape" changes because I gained some weight during holiday. Nothing else.

In the end, I wear neither the white nor red dress bought by mil because Charles said they are ugly. The function was unexpectedly boring. Dishes were not as yummy as in Sibu's. Pretty girls are not that many in his company. =p But we had taken a great machine photo together.

I supposed to make Nyonya's Soon-kuih at Zing Zing's place but canceled our appointment because have to go all the way to the airport with mil to settle Charles's CNY tickets when his leave has been disapproved. My mil is the best mom because she is always the problems solver in the family.

After visiting her very sick good friend, we went for yummy Laksa at Aloha corner. She insisted to go shopping with me when knowing Charles and I will be attending his company annual dinner in Singapore this Saturday. I don't have such plan because she had given me an expensive, red fairy gown before this. She then brought me to her familiar boutiques. She liked every dress that I put on in fitting room and told the taugenio that she was my size before she got married :p

I felt myself like a barbie doll , being dressed up with all the best clothes in the boutiques. Their eagerness had caused me buying the most costly clothes ever in my life! This is often my bad habit. I was so sure I would definitely lost in payment-battle again. It's so shameful she has to pay for me every time. But this is very common in Toh's family.

Next, she suggested that I should buy a Sarawak culture mask for our Masquerade Party! She hopes I will win in the most creative mask-design competition with something like this....

You guess in the end, did I:
1) Buy one for myself to make her happy.
2) Buy two; one for Charles and another for myself.
3) Say no no.

I had my passport renewed in preparation for honeymoon to Taiwan. After that went for afternoon tea with mil. In two hours, we have a long list of ang pows to be given out on wedding day. Charles is sure blessed to have a generous mom!

Today I confirmed my 5 tiers wedding cake with a very famous home-baker in Sibu, Marcus. Mil said 3 tiers are not enough for 550 guests.

I have also given up buying the Precious Moment ornament because really cannot afford. Instead, I bought a pair of red Chinese doll from supermarket as the wedding cake topper.

Marcus is not excellent in baking pretty cakes but he can bake tasty cakes. That's why Mil must buy from him. She is very particular in quality.

I had appointment with Kelvin, the wedding planner to inform my preferences. Kelvin will be helping me with anything to do with flowers because I am not satisfied with the 6 florists in Sibu that I have visited earlier.

I sensed that he wasn't as friendly as the last time when I paid my deposit. Anyway, I hope he will be putting in effort to make my flowers pretty because I don't want to regret with this VERY big investment.

Charles's room has been cleared out. I wonder where his parents hide those old furniture. I am sure they don't throw away, as my parents have been doing the hiding too.

Our Diamond mattress with Comfort bed frame (4k) and wardrobe (about 2.5k) that we ordered 2 months ago arrived this afternoon. The promoter said we will sleep very well on the luxury bed, but according to Charles, he can sleep well even on the floor.

New curtains have been installed too. Mil brought me to pick curtains cloth but then insisted that I pick a brown, thick cloth so that I wont notice it's morning already. Oh, she meant I can sleep till noon. Forgot to tell her I wake up 5:30am every morning. In the end, I picked something she liked :)

The last several weeks before the wedding is the most stressful time period of the entire wedding planning process. And I am experiencing the obvious symptom of difficulty to sleep lately.Look at those panda eyes!

Many big items have been taken care of. The dress has been ordered, as have the flowers, photography, and the cake. But there are a ton of details that need to be wrapped up. Things like figuring out the seating plan at the reception. Like picking out wedding gifts. And do not forget arranging someone to pick up friends at the airport.

As usual when Principal passed by the classroom, the monkeys acted really, really good. They can answer whatever questions though they didn't listen at all!

Principal stopped in my class when he heard them shouted Potassium to Gold, wondering how those weakest students manage to say out chemical words. I saw him walked away with a smile.

And this morning, during the his another moody morning briefing, I was the example of "good teacher" to other 90 teachers in the staffroom. His motivational attack was painless to them as we have gotten used to it.

However, I want to remember this day when I can teach with smile!

At this moment when everyone is having the World Cup fever, I am having our Muhibbah Cup fever... and still taking flu medication.

Our previous defeat of 3-0 in the final to MGGB was humiliating and heart breaking because of mismatching after one player came late. The first runner up was not what we want but, we accepted the trashy Leopex badminton racket as gift to bring home.

For the whole year, my partner has been repeating our lost games to the strong ladies (who are probably teaching PE in school), when I actually was still fresh with the scene because we were very much unsatisfied.

My team manager said I am weak and slow after long break. He was proven right when I jogged faintly yesterday and only finishing 6 x 400m! :0

Any how, he predicted that we are quite impossible to make first 3 this year, as many schools have imported only good players from other not involved schools.

Preventing air sickness

Hooray...I am flying again soon!
But, air sickness is a serious problem for me that affects my mood every time I go on an airplane =(
I can throw out everything after drinking a few drops of plain water. It's like hell in the aeroplane. I asked google why it is so unfair that people can eat and read when flying.

Google suggests that follow these steps:

Do not eat a large meal before getting on the plane. Eating a large meal just before your flight increases your chance of getting air sick.
Try to avoid thinking about getting air sick. If you do, you may convince yourself you are sick.
Take medicine such as Dramamine or Bonine before take off and landing. This is the most sick part. Medicines to prevent travel sickness work by preventing the confusing messages being sent to your brain. Note that some medicines require a prescription (such as Scopolamine), although some are available over the counter (OTC).
You can also buy acupressure wristbands at your local pharmacy, although the evidence surrounding acupressures effectiveness is not entirely conclusive.
Try to stay in you seat as much as possible. Sitting down in a chair means that sudden movements by the plane will affect you less. As a result, less confusing messages will be sent to your brain, due to the fact that your body will not notice as much motion.
Avoid reading on the plane if it makes you feel sick. Many people find that reading on the plane makes them feel sick. As a result, you may want to avoid reading while in flight. But for people that are not air sick, reading actually kills boredom.
Try to sit near the wings of the plane. Near the wings the plane is more stable, so there is less shaking to send your brain confusing signals. If there is shaking your brain may receive confusing signals due to the fact that your sight may not show movement, yet you can feel that you are moving.
Get used to motion before the flight. Some people have stated that by taking part in activities such as jumping on a trampoline in the time before the flight, you may get more used to motion, and as a result not be affected by the sickness as much. You will have to perform the motion based activity many times before you notice the effect, however.
Use scopolamine patches. They are little patches you wear behind your ear, however, this is not used for children under 12. Side effects may include drowsiness, dry mouth, and blurry vision.

I have tried step 1-8 and proven they are ineffective. Step 3 is good but the medicine made me drowsy and sleepy for 10 hours.

As I was invigilating in the recent Malaysian University English Test (MUET), I gave the questions a quick scan. One of the essay question sounds like this: Give your opinions on the nowadays telecommunication like sms, msn and facebook.

I looked around the classroom and wondered how these students who were all Sarawak bumis (the school was 40 minutes drive from town), which I believe they seldom or never touch the typing keyboard before able to write such essay.

If I were the student, what would I write since I don't play the Superpoke pet, Restaurant city, Farm ville, Hotel city.... which were so popular among my colleagues and students.

I have been greeted and well wished by several students from other classes surprisingly. Every students in the class stood up and sang birthday song. So warm.

Two days ago, he told he can change the air ticket when his actual flight has been rescheduled. I was puzzled as I have no idea when did he book the flight home on 28 April 2010. Probably to give surprise? I was not disappointed when he said he is not coming home anymore because I didn't expect him to give me surprise anyway.

A week ago, he has mentioned in the facebook that he wanted to come home for election. After SPR announced that Sibu will have by-election today, he was thinking of changing his flight to election day, instead.

My left brain thinks birthday usually means nothing to him what to say he loves politics. My right brain explains 28th is Wednesday but 16th is Sunday that he doesn't need leave.

Would I still be this upset:
1. If I'm not in bad mood today?
2. If he never mention about the air ticket in the first place?
3. If I'm also a good citizen to vote seriously like him?

I did not plan this. But it was exactly a year ago I signed up for keyboard lesson. I decided to end this after finishing 3 books - electronic keyboard skill practices and one book - memorable folk hits.

Reflection: Learnt fingering chords, chord symbols and to play in different conventional instrument tones with variety of rhythms, tempi, styles and mood.

Switching to piano lesson, my teacher says I need lots of practices (probably she knows I'm lazy) because it's all about how fast and smooth my fingers can go. I'm not in any Grade since I learn for fun so she suggests I start off with some pieces and of course I chose romantic pieces instead.

I curiously flipped through my Romantic Sketchbook for Piano but to find some some boring titles such as Study in C, Lesson in F, Study in D, Lesson in C ...

2:30pm. I am suppose to be in the meeting room now, answering the toughest question from the principal “why is this and that student fail in your subject last year?”

At 7am in 4A2: I could feel a slightly of the monthly pain but praised God it’s not a worse one.

At 8:45am in 4A1: My stomach started grumbling.

9:45am: Finally got time to gulp down 3 glasses of water to make me full.

At 10:05am in 4A6: I felt dizzy so I gave them exercises and asked permission to sit down.

10:15am: The menstrual pain was killing me.

10:20am: Stomachache! I rushed to toilet as I suspected I had diarrhoea. I told them I will be back after taking medicine.

10:30am in toilet: Diarrhoea and vomit.

A teacher came into toilet, I grabbed hold her hands said “I am in pain”. She helped me to sit

and rushed to get help. A few teachers came in asking what’s wrong. I was too weak struggling with the pain and dizziness. They assumed I had heat-stroke so kept pinching my back neck. I felt faint. A teacher pressed below my armpits to get me electrocuted. I was conscious back.

They assisted me to the canteen to rest because there is no air-con there. So I was left there with severe stomach pain, more dizziness and nausea. A male teacher passed by and I asked him to get help. Victoria came but was frightened to see my colourless face. She went away for 5 min which I felt like 5 hours. More teachers came. The don’t-know-what to-do teachers stand aside watching. I don’t know who they were because I had fainted on the bench, semi conscious.

I could feel hands pinching me, massaging me, slapping my face, electrocuting my armpits. I heard my names been called repeatingly, voices saying I could have “heat stroke, low sugar, low blood, period …..” I couldn’t open my eyes but then I heard principal’s voice [I could even recognize his voice when I was fainting]. He shouted for someone to call my parents but then no one knew the number.

A teacher lifted my body up to prevent me from falling asleep. She applied medicine oil on my back shoulder and I was feeling better then. I whispered my house number to her. Shortly later, the ambulance arrived. I was fully awake now to see nurses in front of me. I was told that my worried principal has called the ambulance from Rejang medical centre.

Later, I saw mom and dad at the Rejang medical centre. The specialist checked on me and had ultrasound scan. I felt funny to be scanned without baby inside my stomach. And mom is near my bed and not my husband :p I see nothing in the screen because it’s black and white. The humorous specialist advised me to get married and give birth fast to free myself from this suffering pain. The lesson learnt today: No more menstrual pain after first born.

The medical fee worried me most – ambulance…specialist…ultrasound scan…strong painkillers. How much would these cost?

As expected, mom and dad nagged me until we reached home. I was too tired to explain

1.No cold drinks and food! [Cold or not cold also get pain]

2.Eat breakfast! [ every Mon teach 4 periods non stop, no time for breakfast]

3.Cannot diet! [ diet or no diet also got low blood]

4.On air-con to prevent heat stroke! [ classroom no air-con]

Later then, Principal sms-ed me that I will be excused from SPM post mortem meeting afternoon!!!

O great Saint Peregrine, you who bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease, and were favored with the vision of Jesus Christ coming down from his cross to heal your affliction, ask of God and our Lady, the cure of these sick people whom we entrust to you.

Pulau Li Hua is a residential island for the wealthy in Sibu. During my teen days, we used to ride our motorbikes there just for sightseeing the most secluded, notable and luxurious houses and dreamt to own one, some day. The adults would enjoy the night view along the confluence of the Rajang and Igan Rivers. I'm sure many having their first date at Pulau Li Hua. *wink*

Tonight, my opportunity to step into one of the huge house to celebrate my colleagues' birthdays came. I have no idea what adjectives to describe now.

I am blogging not to complain or self pity but with hope that in future, I would read back this to remind myself how pretty x100 hard losing weight is, for someone who cannot resist food like me.

After several trials of different methods over the past years, I ' successfully' gained more weights. Then I sit back and admit I have not been serious enough.

Though I was true to myself last month (Jan), I only manage to lose 500g which weakening my determination. Seems like all the efforts going down to drain.

What I have done :
1. Reading on HOW from internet, newspaper, books.
2. Trying out detoxing by fasting (it caused me dizziness and have to take sick leave)
3. A glass of fruit juice / lime juice a day.
4. Fruits for breakfast and dinner (still constipation).
5. Exercise more than usual (purposely park my car very far).
6. Drinking plenty of green tea (till insomnia at night).
7. Purposely tuition on weekends (even though busy enough so that I do not tempted to eat at home).
8. Extra one piece of bread into the mouth need to do extra sit up and cycling before sleep.

Habit - one at time, one per month

An article says it takes four to six weeks for any action to become a habit. Not bad, right? Every time when I turn a calendar page, I am developing a different new habit. Wow, at the end of the twelve months, I could have twelve new positive habits!

It says also once something has become a habit, it's simply a part of your life and not something you will even have to think about anymore.

I am so excited. Which to start off?

I work 7 days for the whole month! Every Saturday, school replacement for CNY holiday and Sunday, tuition. Maybe Charles was right, I shoudn't give tuition this year as I will be busy with wedding preparation. I am now very frustrated with the non stop schedules. School meetings, department meetings, club meetings, Sibu YCS meeting, East Asia YCS meetings, keyboard practices, yogas, marching trainings, sport day's training .. and the list goes on....

As a form teacher, I have to keep a record of their personal profile. I passed a piece of A4 with columns on race, ic, DOB, previous school, religion, address, telephone..... The class monitor returned it to me several hours later. 13 students left the parents' name & occupation blanks.

We were meeting Fr Paul Ling for marriage interview. On the way there, we amused ourselves with some questions we thought he might ask.

CT: How long you have been dating?
A: 4 years 6 months 3 days.
A: Why do you want to get marry?
CT: because don't want to be priest and sister.
A: What have you learnt in pre-marriage course?
CT: learn when is her subur time..

CT is home for one week. It's a good time to settle a few important things. These were what we've gone through.

1. Get marriage registration form from JPN.
2. Rush here and there to get some documents ready, take recent photo then complete the form.
3. Return to JPN to get confirmed and signatures.
4. 'Angkat sumpah' at the court then must sign in front of the pesuruhjaya.
5. Go make booking at any association for registration.
(still surveying because we are looking for a bigger room where people can witness us, Sibu's associations usually a small office)

Since I have done some homework, we managed to settle this in only two days!
Psstt... CT said he won't want to marry second time!
